Harry Potter and a Haircut

Stockton's locks were sheared last week! Aunt Makall did it and I told her to cut it short, but as his golden curls were falling to the floor I confess to feeling some melancholy. BUT I think he looks really handsome! It's amazing how much older some haircuts make you seem.

before...
(oh!! those curls!!!)

during...
(notice the fruit snack trash...
we were using all sorts of distractions)

after!
That night we went to a Harry Potter party! There were six adults and eight kids, which was as fun and chaotic as it sounds. I was so impressed with the food spread - we all tried to be creative and contribute Harry Potter-y treats and it turned out great.

after. we FEASTED.
We played Harry Potter Scene-It, and the Birdsalls won. UNTIL NEXT TIME!!! Thanks to the Hinckleys for hosting and making the majority of the food, and thanks to the kids for being cute and playing well together. Fun night!

ALSO:
IT BEGINS
WE HAVE OFFICIALLY BEGUN READING HARRY POTTER TO NATALIE.

We have dreamed about this day since the books first came out when we were little, since we got married, since Natalie was born. The time was right last night and we got all cozy in her room and read a few pages and it was so glorious. We paused at the start of a new page, thinking we were done, but Natalie said "no, keep reading," and sweeter words have never met our ears. Austin and I each read from our own copy so we can alternate paragraphs/dialogue. SO WONDERFUL.
