Changsiversary

We've been married for four years! We had a fun date to celebrate. The weekend before, we went shopping for new outfits. It is so fun to shop together - Austin doesn't usually go with me because I'm kind of annoying to shop with, so it was a treat to get to go together.  We left Natalie and Stockton with Mimi and Pop-Pop (thanks, parents!) and they had a great time going to the splash pad. Little Jack came with us and was a fun companion. Behold: P.F. CHANGS. Ahhh, so delicious. Masterful. Delectable. INCREDIBLE.  After lunch we went to the awesome Omaha Barnes and Noble and had a lovely browse. We went back rejuvenated and as lovey as ever! We brought some "questions for couples" and took turns answering them which was really fun. It's nice to refresh your knowledge of each other and learn something new.  Austin requested a pumpkin pie and then ate it in one day. He loves pie! And I love him : )

LAKE DAY

By "Lake Day" I really mean "Lake Hour and a Half." We chose not to go anywhere this summer mostly because we didn't really feel up to the task of traveling with three kids under three, but also to save money and work vacation hours. I think it was the right choice but we have seen all our friends/family on their trips and we decided we needed at least a little one, so we headed to Branched Oak Lake just outside of town after Austin got off work one night. We packed up with towels, swimsuits, a couple buckets, dinner, and the quilt, and enjoyed the little drive into the "country." I felt refreshed as soon as the water was visible! It was such a nice view and made me feel very vacation-y. It's so nice to do something out of the ordinary! my view as I fed Smalls He didn't really get in the water, but it was fun to see him in Stockty's old suit! Stockton was THRILLED. He sat in one spot most of the time with a bucket and...

An August August

guys. look at them. My children. Gah they are the best. Sometimes I feel bogged down in the laundry, feeding, dishes, vacuuming, tidying, lawn mowing, mail checking, bill paying, errand running, dinner making...you get the picture. (And forget  sometimes ...I feel this way more often than I'd like to admit.) But then I sit down and read a book to my Natsby, or roll around on the floor tickling my little Stockty, or snuggle my sleepy Smalls, and all my complaining and feeling stuck and selfish desires melt away. It is crazy how much they have changed my life and crazy how much I love them. flopping the target configuration I looked up "august" in the dictionary and means "respected or impressive." I would say this month of August had indeed been august! At least from a three-year-old's viewpoint. But mostly I just wanted to say "august August." My view, a lot of the time:  children children everywhere! Stockton still love...

Tooth Trauma

We had our first major accident the other day - we had managed to avoid weird sicknesses and big medical issues, but it finally happened. Luckily I think it has a happy ending:  see!? no tooth! but now over a week later we can see the bottom of the tooth, so the gums are pushing it back out...so weird. also, our bed, for accident reference. Natalie and Stockton were jumping on my bed, and Natalie was pushing Stockton over and they were both laughing. I told her to stop and/or be careful, but when I left the room to go get a diaper I heard a very audible BONK and instant screaming from Stockton. I ran back in there to find blood on the sheets at the end of the bed, Stockton trying to stand up and crying super hard, and Natalie hovering behind him looking anxious. She must have pushed him so he fell face-first onto the end of our bed which is wooden, but the covers were folded over it so it was slightly padded. I panicked because I thought his front teeth had completely shifte...

3+ months

Smalls! Here he is at 3 months: He is one of the smiliest babies I've ever seen, but definitely the smiliest in our family. He smiles instantly when you make eye contact, and is often smiling to himself too. We love it! Happy happy Jack. (Happy Jack Road, Wyomingites?) Smalls LOVES this red play mat. I take it with me when I know I'll be somewhere for a while - he's there when I'm cooking, working out, or doing chores. Bumbo Boy!  He sleeps easily, eats well, and is a trooper in the car. He seems to be a momma's boy already, but he's generally genial with others too. He's turning into the next stage of infant and it's so fun - he is so strong and interactive and I love watching him grab everything. He sucks on his hands and is starting to think about rolling over. look at this cute little boy, little button nose
