A Head Injury : (

I took these pictures of Claire walking into church the Sunday after Christmas because she just looked so sweet and cute, especially with the backpack and the sweater my mom knit for her.  Then, right after we got home from church, Stockton was helping Claire up the stairs and tripped at the top, launching her onto the landing and gashing her head open on that metal box along the floor. I saw it happen because I was in the kitchen and happened to be looking over there, and I heard the "thunk" of her forehead on the box and knew before I saw it that we were going to have to go to the emergency room. (There are some graphic pictures below...if you get squeamish, consider this your warning to skip the rest. Spoiler alert: she is fine!) Austin had stayed after church to help with tithing, but luckily Jack and Sara were here visiting. While I tried to console a bleeding Claire with a GIANT gash on her head, I also tried to call Austin and put him on speaker phone because my hands...

"Ring" in the New Year

Years ago my mom inherited my great-grandmother's antique silver ring and she started wearing that as her wedding ring instead of her original one. When I was about to be engaged, she offered to let me use her ring that she wasn't wearing. As a poor, clueless couple we were thrilled to accept a free super nice ring and not have to pay for or pick out a new ring, and conveniently my dad also had a family ring from his grandfather that he wasn't using that he offered to Austin. We were happy with our rings but said that maybe for our 10th anniversary, we would get new rings that were actually picked out by us. Years went by (almost 10!) and we still thought it would be fun to pick out new rings, but I was feeling very indecisive and had no idea what I would even choose for myself. Plus, I had the unfortunate problem of not being able to take my ring off! Then, in December, I was playing on the mattress with the kids and I felt a snag and noticed right away that one of the sap...

Poulsens in Lindon!

Back in August when everyone was here for Natalie's baptism, we decided that we needed to get together around Christmas/New Years as the big Poulsen family again, but weren't sure where to meet. We had just done Cheyenne, and at that point no one else really had a house that could accommodate everyone, so we settled on renting a house in Lindon, UT (near Provo) which was more or less a central gathering place for everyone. We arrived on December 30th and spent 3 nights/days together, and it was the best!  These pictures are out of order and are from lots of different phones, but you get the general idea:  Since it's the age of coronavirus, we knew that we would be spending almost all of our time staying at the house, so we brought TONS of activities, games, puzzles, etc. One morning the kids painted on canvases and it was so cute! (keep an eye out for more painting pictures below) ^^this is at Grandma Poulsen's house in Ogden before we met in Lindon...such a cute pictur...
