Claire eats on the couch and crumbles her food, leaving traces wherever she goes.
We get so many packages - these are my new Birks that Max sent me!! Stockton has become kind of obsessed with the Amazon Prime "package van." We've ordered books for the kids, a new toaster, new work shoes for Austin, a new DVD cord for the car, toy car bribes for Stockton during the week that he was really struggling, and probably other random stuff that I am forgetting. We play with LEGOs. Jack built a cool car track and Stockton enjoyed pushing his car through. Natalie likes building houses, which was always my favorite thing to build with LEGOs!
Sometimes we skip school and just play with LEGOs for our educational activity.
LPS offers a free food pick up each week, and we went a few weeks ago mostly to just get out of the house and I was astonished at the amount of food that they gave us! For four kids they each got 10 chocolate milks, almost as many apple juices, hamburgers, chicken patties, chicken nuggets x2, snacks, fruit, carrots, frozen punch, buns, donuts...it was crazy! The kids were completely delighted, especially with the chocolate milk and hamburgers and cheddar chex mix. Thank you, LPS! (notice the drive-thru style since we are still practicing social distancing...they just dropped the bags in through the passenger window.)
Stockton did not want to participate in school so he crossed it off on our schedule. (The schedule that lasted maybe one whole day haha).
Jack was very interested in learning from his science facts book one afternoon. It was pretty cute. He drew the animals that he was learning about after he studied their pictures.
We take lots of baths or showers. The kids play outside all day and are so stinky! And Claire is in the eating phase where she just stuffs her face and has food over her entire body after a meal.
I find these little gems as I'm packing...how cute is this picture of my twin brother and I?!
The kids are all jealous of Claire, who gets to come to the store with me sometimes since she can "isolate" in her carseat. This particular HyVee trip was after seeing the doctor for Claire's ear infection, and she fell asleep peeking out of her cover like that. So cute.
Stockton is my little guardian. He always makes sure I am safe in my car when I leave and when I return. He likes to open the door for me, turn the car on/off, and make sure my headlights are off when I'm home. He loves watching me back out of the driveway. He's so observant!
Claire enjoyed her first taste of watermelon! The carpet enjoyed it too.
Stockton likes to hold hands sometimes when we're sitting together. It is so precious. I love feeling love from all of our children, but Stockton is less forthcoming (at least in a calm way) so it is extra special when he asks for that kind of connection.
The boys went through a brief karate phase.
Jack was mad that I made him do "school" (which was just drawing pictures, basically) so he drew this mad face.
Sometimes it snows in April in Nebraska! Quarantine was cozier but more difficult when we couldn't play outside. I love Stockton's clasped hands and bright yellow pikachu jacket.
Krispy painted this pictures of the state flowers where all of the Plumbs reside: Nebraska, (almost) Wyoming, Utah, California, and Texas (Alissa, Max's girlfriend). I love it so much!
I am so attracted to this binder display at Target haha. Binders are so juicy! But I never really have a reason to buy them, so I just linger in the aisle for a minute admiring them.
We have so many foxes on our street! We see them daily. The kids came barging in the door one morning asking for my phone so they could take this picture. I love that they are so excited about it.
The kids were SO excited to get their own masks! They haven't really had major reasons to use them but they are very happy to be participating in this age of mask-wearing.
One day the neighbors had gotten in trouble so they couldn't play with us, so Jack and Carson sat on the curbs talking to each other from their own yards. It was really cute.
Claire has really gotten into books lately! It's very cute. She especially loves pointing out babies and balls. She is the most natural page turner of our kids at this age, I think.
Natalie started a band with the neighbors called "The Diamonds." I made them all cardboard guitars and they were thrilled for a few hours and then forgot all about it haha.
The latest installments of the Poulsen Times
Lounging buddies. Claire lights up when Austin comes into the room.
Someday I will shower regularly again, not have to wear a mask at the store, and parks will reopen. It is so sad driving past all of the playgrounds all wrapped in orange construction fencing. We really really miss going to the park.
Claire absolutely LOVES being outside. She is not reliable on these concrete steps so she always makes us nervous, but she is just so happy to be there. She gets filthy and is very very happy about it.
Picnic with the Eickmeiers! We will miss these great neighbors SO much.
One day they decided to all dress in costumes!
Natalie is continuing her Noxsea (previously "Noxia") comic and I love coming across these doodles
We took all the bed frames down for the move and threw away the bunk bed. It was a relic from Austin's childhood and it definitely served its purpose, but it was time to go. We ordered a new bunk bed for the boys that will arrive in Cheyenne! For now we are all sleeping on our mattresses on the floor. It feels like a big household sleepover.
Homework station all ready for Stockton, who is nowhere in sight. Homeschooling is SO HARD.
A sunshiney Claire, and all of us enjoying a vanilla smoothie.
Claire participating in her first High School Musical screening. She enjoyed it, of course.
The destruction that we deal with on a daily (hourly) basis. No exaggeration.
"The Golden Experience" indeed!
Claire has the best baby tummy and diaper bum
Rocking out to "Determinate" from the movie Lemonade Mouth
Natalie is growing up so fast. So smart, but with such an attitude! She has developed a flair for the dramatic (probably the dumb Dork Diaries books that she loves), but she is creative and sweet when she wants to be.
I had a delightful Sunday evening watching this livestream concert from my mom's piano friend and his violinist roommate. I MISS CONCERTS! Live classical music is so enriching.
Claire still enjoys playing phone (and blankie is never far away)
Jack got into his school box and was so happy to look at his old preschool book. He said "Mom, oh I miss my friends so much! But now I can see them all the time with this book." He is the sweetest.
We are surviving this weird coronavirus time but man, even after two months of this we are still not really in a good groove. It is just too hard to go without an external routine for this long! We have all but given up on school....it's such a battle....but we read every day and play all day and are getting ready for our move. We'll get through this eventually!
