Stockton's arm around Jack!
It is clear that everyone is desperate for movement and fresh and air and not being stuck at home, because on a beautiful Sunday in March we went to Pioneers Park and I think everyone in Lincoln was there with us! The park is huge, so 'social distancing' was still effectual, but it was funny that we all had the same thought.
We fed an uneaten PB&J to the geese, but I don't think they liked it very much. The kids loved finding increasingly bigger and bigger rocks to throw into the lake. (How are there still rocks near ponds and lakes? Every kid I've ever known loves to throw rocks into the water, so how are there any left?!)
We found a deserted path behind the lake area and the kids loved exploring. The sunshine felt so good!! We had collected more rocks in the parking lot for a return to the lake after our walk, but Stockton decided he would rather throw them into this little storm pond instead. I love their glee when the rock makes that 'ga-lumpf!' sound and splashes in the water!
There were lots of dead and fallen trees to climb on. They got some good mileage out of this one.
I LOVE when my kids can explore in the "wilderness." That was something that was essential in my childhood, and something that I look forward to regularly embracing again when I have more opportunities.
I am grateful for sunshine and nature and adventures. This was a good day : ) And it was Sunday, so we came home and had our own little church service. I love receiving the Sacrament from Austin. I don't take for granted this special time we have to see our husband and father's Priesthood in action as he breaks, blesses, and passes the Sacrament in our home. The Spirit is wonderfully present, and it has piqued the boys' interest in getting the Priesthood. We sang "Gethsemane" for our opening song and it was so sweet to hear Natalie sing every word. Even Claire tried to sing! It was the cutest! Not everything about this quarantine time has been desirable, but Sundays are completely lovely.
